Sunday Evening 20th January 2013

Good Evening
Quite a lot of snow has accumulated on the school site and Ambrose Lane, and the untreated roads (and some of the gritted roads) in the area are very slippery. Many schools in the town and surrounding areas have already indicated that they are either closing for the day or opening late. Opening late is not a viable option for many of our parents who drop their children off on the way to work and so, after a conversation with senior staff, we believe that the decision I need to make is whether to open at the normal time or close for the day. If conditions stay as they are (which is likely) or deteriorate, I would be concerned for the well-being of staff and pupils travelling in the morning. Many travel substantial distances.  I will make a final decision early in the morning, but there is a strong possibility that we will be closed tomorrow. I will confirm my decision before 7 am.
Arrangements for the King's School will also apply to the Highfield Preschool.
